03/11/2003 Archived Entry: "FREEEEDOM!!"

Has anyone been keeping an eye on the US vs Canadian exchange rate lately? Apparently, I haven't because when I went to deposit my 100$ US check from my mail-in rebate I was expecting around 160$ but only got 145.10$. Talk about dissapointment. I think if I cashed it in early last week it would have been a different story.

My brother sent me this link: here.
Basically, it says that several government menus have changed the name of "french fries" and "french toast" to "freedom fries" and "freedom toast" as a way of signalling their displeasure with France's stance against obliterating Iraq. I think this is ridiculous and petty. The new names don't only sound stupid, but they also do that "we're on higher moral ground than you" thing. By substituting Freedom for French, they're making "french" a dirty word, implying that France does not uphold freedom, or maybe, is the enemy of freedom.

The article goes on to mention that several politicians have introduced legislations that will economically punish France for its stance. This essentially amounts to financial blackmail due to political differences; France wants peace, the US doesn't. What is France asking for anyways? That the weapons inspectors be given more time to do their job, while the US wants to give Iraq a deadline of March 17 to "completely disarm" themselves. I get the feeling that no matter what Iraq does, what the inspectors say they have done, US politicians will always be saying something to the tune of "Sorry, but no; you did not comply. Bombs away!"

I just spent 2 hours working on a layout, only to have the damn program crash on me. I thought it had auto-save enabled T_T

P.S Americans are morons.
