The Long Road
03/23/2003 Archived Entry: "How excited can YOU get over a mouse?"
I got a new mouse! But not just ANY mouse; the best goddamn mouse in the whole wide world! See it here, read all about it here. The thing has 8 buttong (EIGHT!!), is more precise than a dual optical laser mouse, and looks oh-so-sexy. And OF COURSE it doulbe clicks only when I want it to double click! My favorite thing about its design is that the two regular buttons aren't on seperate pieces of plastic but are part of the mouse's body. niiiiice.
The mouse is usually 80$. Future Shop had it advertised for 50$, Joe said that if I brought the flyer into Staples, they'd give me a 150% price match so I could get the mouse for a measly 35$! Unfortunately, when I got there, Staples had also reduced their price to match Future Shop's so I ended up buying the thing for 50$. Which is still pretty good. I think that someone had probably already gone in and done the price match, so they just lowered their price in case anyone else came in with the flyer. When I went to pay for it, the mouse came up at the regular price so I pointed out the sign said that it was 50$. I suppose I could have just pulled out the Future Shop flyer and saved myself 15$, but that would have been dirty since they had matched the price on their sign.
The girl at Staples, Lindsey, didn't demagnetize the box for the mouse so I ended up setting off a whole bunch of alarms while wondering around the mall. Sheesh! Speaking of boxes, the mouse box had the WORST design I've ever seen. To get the mouse out I had to open ALL THREE SIDES!! Usually you only have to open just one side and to get stuff out but NOOOOOO, that would just make too much sense for Logitech. Oh well, the minutes of aggravation were all worth it once I plugged the thing in. Computing heaven I tell ya.
Mike went with me since he had a couple of things to return to Future Shop. While there, I also asked what they could do about that not-my-name-on-my-receipt thing. The girl got on the phone, talked to a couple of people and then gave me a phone number to call, apparently they'll 'help me out'.
We got there on our bikes; in the rain! It was pretty bad, the roads were quite muddy so my bag is now splattered with mud. =( I'm glad that it's warm enough (sort of) to bike around now, soon I'll be able to go on 5 hour biking excurstions to nowhere-in-particular.
