03/31/2003 Archived Entry: "Girls, they come in all kinds of flavours!"

My housemates and I have recently learnt something about a girl we know; she's technologically competent. It was the damndest thing! She knew more about IRC servers and idents than I did. I'm not trying to be sexist or anything, but it's certainly not a daily occurence that we run into a girl that can engage Stephen in a conversation about these things with such a high level of techno babble. The guys and I were generally very impressed with this girl's knowledgeability. We're assuming that whenever she encounters some kind of techi problem that she'd just look things up on and find ways to work it out instead of going to others for help or giving up (my favoured options).

This leads me to the three types of girls that I always find super-interesting. Girls who like sci-fi, gamer girls and tech girls. By sci-fi I don't mean "Star Wars" but REAL sci-fi like Herbert, Heinlein, Asimov, Card, etc. And by games, I don't mean party games but FPS, RTS, Fighting games, etc.

If girls always want someone who's "sensitive" and "emotional", I think I'm allowed to want these types of girls.

Not only are these girls uber-rare (to my knowledge) but they, obviously, have something in common with me and many other guys out there. It's easy to see why one of these girls would instantly click with men around the world. I've only ever met 2 sci-fi girls and 2 tech girls. If I ever meet a gamer chick, you can be sure that I'd pounce on her!

A girl that's a combination of these three traits would be like a dream come true.
But watch out! If you ever find a girl that's into all three of these things, it could be that she's the perfect woman OR that she's exactly like every male friend you have!

Aren't you in Software Eng? Shouldn't there be at least SOME tech girls in that? Trying meeting some of them!

They're all ugly!!! T_T and most seem to be there just because and have no clue about comp tech stuff. And little knowledge in programming
