Posted by Rayne @ 05/26/2003 04:11 AM EST

il fait noir, noir, noir
je veux voir, voir, voir
CLIC, il fait clair
VIVE LA LUMIERE!

(p.s. yes i DO think i'm clever ... i'm also seeing a correlation b/w me commenting on your page and you signing my guestbook .. hmmm)

Posted by melpie @ 05/26/2003 06:07 PM EST

Frere jacques

dormez vous?
dormez vous?

or

allouette
gentil allouette
allouette je te plumerais

or
au claire de la lune mon ami pierot
prete moi ta plume pour ecrire un mot
ma chandelle est morte
je n'ai plus de feu

Posted by Rayne @ 05/26/2003 08:18 PM EST

of course i know allouette and frere jacques ... the last one doesn't sound familiar though ...

i know the telefrancais song, does that count?

Posted by melpie @ 05/27/2003 01:16 AM EST

telefrancais, is that a teevee station?

'of course' you know? pssssha!

i know some theme songs from french children's shows from way back when.
*reminisces*

Posted by Rayne @ 05/27/2003 07:26 PM EST

telefrancais was a tv show for use primarily in classrooms i think

the main character was a pineapple ... l'anana had many adventures! and then there was a rock band of skeletons ("les squelettes") that usually played a song ... it was a great show!

i can't remember the song now though ...

Posted by melpie @ 05/28/2003 02:46 PM EST

that first song is actually about ducks btw.

i never got television shows for french class =(

telefrancais sounds trippy tho...do you have reservations about eating pineapples now?

Posted by Rayne @ 05/28/2003 06:51 PM EST

you guys should listen to this one:
Joe Dassin's "Dans les yex d'Émilie"

Moi, j'avais le soleil
jour et nuit
dans les yeux d'Émilie
Je réchauffais ma vie
à son sourire

Moi, j'avais le soleil
nuit et jour dans les yeux de l'amour
et la mélancolie
au soleil d'Émilie,
devenue joie de vivre

(very cheesy song!!)
but i guess you can't know such songs when you aren't french :P

you should download it!!! ASAP!

yeah ... i know the birdie song is about ducks in french ... but it's the birdie song or chicken dance in english, so that's what i call it and ... besides, ducks are still birds of a sort ... aren't they? they're feathered, they have beaks/bills ..

and i have absolutely no reservations about eating pineapple ... it's not like i'm actually eating l'anana ...

Posted by melpie @ 05/30/2003 03:07 PM EST

Well, I've always found it strange that food gets anthropomorphosized. Is that a word? Like when you see that living blob of peanut butter in that Reese's commercial, or any other dozens of examples that I can't think of. Always figured it would scar some child into NOT eating that particular food.

ducks are birds, yes. but ducks aren't chickens =)
i've never heard of this bird dance song thing tho.

*downloads french song*

Hi, I was searching the web for the "allouette song" and found this page. My grandbaby loves the song, but I am afraid that I have forgotten most of the words. If anyone can help I would really appreciate it. Thanks

I just watched that show today in school (i am in tenth grade). Telefrancais is a weird show and I think the pilot guy resembles Michael Jackson. The two kids are Jacque and Sophie and the pineapple is L'ananas. The skeletons are les squellettes and they have a cartoon in the show called Monsieur Pourqui: Super Dectective. It was kind of funny to watch in school (especially since it was friday and the day before vacation). Anyways, that is what I know.

I know the telefrancais song too...

and tomber la chemise is an idiom....

Anyone know a cute little song that (i think) starts pout poute poute. It is a little boy (cartoon) singing the song in french Noreen autumncattery@yahoo.com

Posted by noreen @ 05/10/2005 06:17 AM EST

Nikki - I am a French teacher and I have lyrics to both those songs...feel free to email me for them.

Also, thanks to those of you who started the Telefrancais blog - I have been trying to find legit copies of that series for ages for my French classes. My students love it and ask to see it ALL the time. I have a really bad copy of a few episodes, but would love to show them more. I am totally calling that # for TV Ontario...MERCI!!

The telefrancais stuff: It's Je suis UN anana, not je suis l'anana. And the skeletons are kinda based off of the Greatful Dead. The theme song is:

Allo! Bonjour! Salut!
Téléfrançais! Téléfrançais!
Venez jouer avec nous!
C'est formidable! Exceptionnel!
C'est excellent! Sensationnel!
C'est merveilleux! C'est Magnifique!
Téléfrançais fantastique!
OH!
Téléfrançais! Téléfrançais!

I just wanted to say my first taste of 'Telefrancais' was in my 6th grade french class taught by Mrs. Hudson... sorry I don't remember your first name. She was a smokin' hottie, Mrs. Hudson was. Imgaine Catherine Zeta-Jones in an late-'80s. Can you believe I *still* turned out gay??!! lol Anyhoo... I experienced 'Telefrancais' all over again in Mrs. Rubio's 8th grade french class. She was a 50-something frazzled French-Canadian lady always about 10 seconds from "really, really losing it". lol Sorry if we sent you bananas and you're now in a mental institution, Mrs. R. We didn't mean anything by it. 'Telefrancais' was very awesome for us. Ah, but all the dicks (penises) written in the (french) textbooks was even MORE enjoyable. Should have tipped me off back then that I was a homosexual. lol Oh, well! :-P~ Praise the Pineapple!!!!!!!!
