Chapters has a sale on right now, 4 paperbacks for the price of 3. I went last night, bought 4 books and it cost me 110$.

So ya, the evening would have been fine even with the 15$ cover, tons of driving around, being frisked by a large black man, and the bad ratio of people met vs. not met, if only I had not received that 75$ parking ticket in front of Chapters. It ruined my night. I was seething for hours. Even last Friday's stupidity didn't cost me any money. Worst day of my life!

The books I got were American Gods by Neil Gaiman, Shadow Puppets by Orson Scott Card, Saturn Ruhk by Robert Forward and Throne of Ringworld by Larry Niven. They better be damn well worth it.

I own all three Ringworld books but I haven't actually read them yet. Niven's writing a 4th one so I'm waiting till that comes out before I start reading any of those books.

I was talking about Friday night Ting, Sat night was a bit better!

ha ha ha, poor thai. i think i enjoyed friday night much better. i mean, i didn't get a ticketed, and i actually got something for my $15 cover. managed to stick around just long enough to run into andrea, and not abandon the place. ha ha, i realize that my entire opinion of babylon improved immensely after going in with people i sort of knew. having people to hang out with is a good thing. much better than standing at the bar by myself sipping on a beer for half an hour :)

and you only paid $5 of the $15 cover! honestly!

those books cost THAT MUCH!? even with the free one... holy crap, i'm though they'd be maybe $15-$20 each... (okay, honestly, i thought they'd be $10 each, but they needed to be $14 minimu to qualify for the 4 for 3 offer...)

that's like over $30 a book (before tax) for the three you paid for! and they're paperbacks!

No no no no. I'm just implying that the books + the parking ticket cost 110$. The books by themselves were only 30-something dollahs.

I knew people at Babylon...didn't help me. I was already soured from the parking ticket. I might still be bitter about it actually.
