Have a young boy as your protagonist (because boys won’t read about a girl but girls will read about a boy). Throw in a couple of sidekicks that help the hero out but never fight the final battle. Add mysterious omens of a great destiny. Make the villain absolutely villainous. Blend in some spicy prose and voila, instant hit!

it reminds me a lot of Harry Potter, eheh. You could be a new J.K. Rowling ;) I'd like to read on a girl that has no friends and is opposed to a not-so-bad villain, though... it'd be interesting.

I also think its quite Harry Potter-esque! But I'd be interested a story about a protagonist, throw in a couple of sidekicks that help the hero out but never fight the final battle, but watch the protagonist die... Then the side-kicks run screaming into oblivion where they are also inevitable killed! Cause you know, kids always like a good kill kill story!

Are you a Harry Potter fan too? ;-) The recipe sounds good so far...but J.K. Rowling is throwing in a new ingredient in the new book. She kills of a character. Ack! And she also said "I would consider them a main character." I want my copy to arrive so I can read it already!!!! Hopefully it's comes soon..../me waits eagerly in anticipation.

I wrote that with mostly Harry Potter, Lion King and Pokemon in mind.

I'd love to see all the traumatized kids after they've read a story with Laura Ann's suggestion =)

HAHA! if J.K. Rowling has lots of phychologist friends they could convince her to kill off all the characters then all the kids in the world would need counselling.

She won't kill off Harry. He is the series. But it might be Ron or Hermione. Or possibly Hagrid, Dumbledore, McGonagall or Snape. Even though technically they're not main characters.

I heard the very last sentence of the saga will be: "Harry, where is your scar?", but that may be nothing more than a rumor.

Voldemort could just be a henchman for an even more evil being. Though I hope that's not the case. It doesn't fit with the rest of the series. I guess we'll find out.

i'm thinking that the character that dies will be hagrid ... either that or one of the weasleys ... but not ron ... perhaps percy ... he's somewhat main ... right?
