The Long Road

My taste in music has always been pretty eclectic. I will listen to anything, from classical to hard rock. I think I tend to judge songs for themselves and not based on who it’s by or what genre it is. You'd probably have been hard pressed to find a dominant genre on my hard drive.

Lately though, my preferences have developped more of an Alternative bent. Maybe it's because I have a housemate that constantly tells me everything on my playlist sucks (even if ½ of it comes from his hard drive), or that I only hear EDGE FM in Waterloo, and XFM (since the fall of KOOL) here in Ottawa but the music I listen to now is pretty different from before. I’ll still like Pop, Dance, Techno and Countries tunes; but I’m exposed to them much less now so I have fewer of those songs to be attracted to.

With all that in mind, here's the list of songs for the CD I just burnt. My 3rd ever music compilation disc.

Linkin Park - Faint
Avril Lavigne - Losing Grip
Evanescense - Bring Me To Life
Fuel - Wont Back Down
Hilary Duff - Why Not
Michelle Branch - Everywhere
White Stripes - Seven Nation Army
Nickelback - How You Remind Me
Evanescense - My Immortal
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Can't Stop
Remy Zero - Save Me
Santana /w Michelle Branch - Game of Love
Walker's Line - Give You Anything
Nickelback - Never Again
AFI - Girl's Not Grey
Fuel - Shimmer
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Dosed
Sum 41 - Hellsong
Snow - Legal
Tatu - Everything She Said (in Russian)

the only songs from your disc that can be found in my winamp playlists is 7-nation army! you should have put the ending song of Sous le Signe des Mousquetaires eheh!

i've got a song advice for you guys if you'd like to discover a bit of french-canadian music. The band's album Break Syndical was no.1 in quebec for almost half of the last year.

The song is:
Cowboys Fringants - En Berne

Actually, the band does not make country music, as you'll hear when you download the song. They did at first, but soon switched to a clever and unique mix of folk and alternative rock.

I'd rate En Berne an EXCELLENT song, perhaps one of Quebec's best pop composition ever, with a very catchy melody and nice incisive lyrics (though understanding them is not that necessary to like the song). I sometimes play that song again and again without ever boring myself of it :P.

Please try it and tell me what you think!! :)

I got En Berne. Its an interesting song, I didn't understand some of it cause it was too fast but ya , its good. You are right that it is a folk/rock combination. Its almost celtic.

Keith Urban's Sombody Like You is my favorite out of the ones you listed Andrea, after Amazed of course.

Thai...you don't like techno...:P!...I don't recall you ever enjoying a track...and you always say bad things about techno anyway

um, right. why am i writing this?

oh, cause i want to say that i like these songs:
sugar ray - is she really going out with him?
eve6 - think twice

that's all for now

You guys are just TOO enthusiastic about techno.

Some techno is great :P

I like industrial band NiN, which uses a large dose of techno effects. Also Ramasutra is nice, and i recently discovered with excitement the strange use of techno of the very underground cult israeli duo Infected Mushroom. try it!

Most of the techno we are exposed to is house, though, and house sucks.

(house is so... crude)
