The Long Road
09/18/2003 Archived Entry: "TLC"
Remember the Good Ol Days when The Learning Channel was all about educational programming? I used to watch it all the time to know about ancient civilizations and whatnot. With the coming of Discovery Channel, I guess TLC had to change its focus a little. They've caught the "reality TV" train, except their shows are no where near as sleazy and insipid as the ones you can catch on the other networks.
I just started really watching the shows but already I love "What Not To Wear" and "Clean Sweep". The former is about two people who are given fashion disasters and make them over, complete with a 5000$ shopping spree! I'd go on the show just to have that much to spend on clothes, imagine all the outfits you could get for five grand! "Clean Sweep" is the show where an organizer (how does one become a professional organizer??), a designer and a carpenter remake extremely cluttered rooms into liveable places; the focus of the show tho is usually around convincing the couples to get rid of 1/2 their stuff. I definately know some people who could be featured on "What Not To Wear" and there are some houses I've been in that could use a clean sweep.
Anyways, both these "reality" shows are extremely entertaining AND educational. I really enjoy seeing how different the people and homes look by the end. Don't forget to watch "Trading Places: $100 000" on Oct. 15 when the crew gets 100 grand to remake a home in whatever way they want! Imagine the possibilities!

How come none of these comments are related to the entry??

They were with the original entry!
I watch "Trading Spaces" and "What Not To Wear" but I've never seen "Clean Sweep". I know a few people who could benefit from both shows too. ;)

My sister has WAY too many shoes. Most she doesn't wear anymore. I'm sure I could take a few pairs and she'd never notice if you're interested Mike... ;)
