09/07/2004 Archived Entry: "Time Well Spent"
I hate uncertainty. I'm sure no one else really likes uncertainty either. I always have my next 3-4 days vaguely planned out at all times. I like being able to say "yeah, I'm having dinner with Chris on saturday, going to the casino with Mike Sunday night and having lunch with Jen on Monday". But when there's a big uncertainty hanging over my head (such as, say, not knowing where I'll be living) that puts all plans on indefinite hold and prevents me from making anything concrete, it just makes me want to jump up and down a lot out of frustration.
I wish I had known ahead of time that I'd have a whole month between the end of school and the beginning of work. It would have helped in making plans for something truly interesting to do with myself.
While I don't really consider the month wasted - finishing The Frozen Throne, reading all seven incomprehensible volumes of The Invisibles, learning C#, and reconnecting with those crazy locals IS worthwhile - it just doesn't seem as fulfilling as going to Vegas, Seattle, Cancun, England, East Coast, Camping, etc. as some of the people I know have been doing. Where's MY adventure? What do I have to show for 3 out of 4 weeks of vacation so far? Where are the stories I could be telling? The anecdotes? The memories!?

Yeah, it sucks when you can't plan ahead to prevent your inevitable murder...mwahaha!!!
As for travelling, aren't you broke?!?!

Thai, if you really wanted to travel, you would have made do with the two weeks you had. The answer is, either you haven't found someone to travel with, or you're just not *that* interested. It's already pretty stressful and "exciting" moving from one city to another to another. :P
Heh, I don't know whether I want to do grad school or not -- how's that for uncertainty?

At least you didn't spend $3400 on crap in one day! Well, ok, $3350. The $50 spent for Alias Season 3 on DVD wasn't a waste. ;)

Being broke is at worse a temporary set back.
If I really wanted to I'm sure I could have travelled by myself, but what's the fun in that?
As for Cuzco, Jer, Brother, that only happened in our imagination.
