The Long Road
10/17/2004 Archived Entry: "To think"
that at this moment, some people get to watch Farscape: Peacekeeper War while others are stuck NOT watching it. Kinda sucks if you ask me. It feels sorta like someone else is sleeping with the girl you're attracted to and you have to sit there, waiting your turn...one day. Well, not really, but you get the idea.
Waiting for City, or Space to pick up and air Farscape would be a horrendously long, and arduous affair. This is one of those times when piracy is like a gift! I'm sure the makers of Farscape would like their show to reach the largest audience possible, and how else is that going to happen for us Canadians except through the use of such things as BitTorrent.
Honestly though, aside from how easy BitTorrent has made things for the regular schmoes to get stuff (long gone are the days of FTP ratios and such), the greatest thing about it is how diverse the stuff you can get is. The pirates are truly the first to see a lot of small independent films which are impossible to track down in most theaters. It is sometimes honestly impossible to catch a smaller film, and were I a maker of little movies, I think I would rather someone see my movie for free than not at all. In the same boat are foreign films which will never get released in North America nor get a regional DVD. The only ways to see something like Immortel, or Infernal Affairs involves either too much time and money, or downloading.
