The Long Road

So I started playing Texas Holdem online... with real money. It's pretty fun, at first I thought that it would make a huge difference playing in real life and online. Turns out that actually seeing the other players really doesn't matter so much, poker's all about when you bet, how you bet, and what your bet means in relation to the last couple of bets you made. There's tons of poker strategy guides out there, and surprisingly, they're pretty helpful when you're playing.
Anyways, now that poker is this huge "thing" sweeping across the land, it's unsurprising to see all these online poker servers popping up. I wish I would have thought of starting an online poker server. There are hundreds of players online at any time of day, or night. Besides the startup cost (writing the software) and maintaining your server monthly, there's probably very little cost in running such an operation. I also like all the little "incentives" they give you to play. When you first cash in, you get a 50% "bonus", but the bonus is given to you SLOWLY. The more you play, the more you get, and for each person you refer that signs up, you get 50 bonus dollars also! Whee!

Hmm, personally I find seeing the other players a BIG boost. You get a better read into the game, that's why I've quickly turned away from online play.

i think it depends on how good you are at initial strategy ... the head-to-head play is most exciting if you're comfortable with what else is going on and can concentrate on how other ppl are acting while not letting your technical strategy suffer.
does that make sense?
melpie's ever so sleepy.

Somebody..stop the poker fad.. i knew something was up during the summer when my cousin came over to waterloo, and instead of playing baseball like we normally do, he suggested playing Poker.. WTF, who plays poker in the afternoon when it's 30 degrees. OK i probably hate it because i suck, but still.
