04/12/2005 Archived Entry: "intermission 2"
In some alternate universe, I am doing a double major in Psychology and Sociology. Psychology to study the inner workings of the human mind, to learn why we do the things we do and why we think the thoughts we think. Sociology to study human interactions and the environment we have built for ourselves.
What would I do with all this power? I would observe human life, distill it into words, and write about it in accessible forms and media. In the same vain as this particular entry, I would wish that my writings would help others understand their lives and interactions a little better so that they could gain more control over their daily existance.
Meanwhile, in this universe, I will be writing code...

In my alternate universe, I decided to take up journalism, with the intent of covering the NFL in the foreseeable future. I love talking about sports, wouldn't it be great to be paid for it...:).
Anyhow, this version of me also invested $1000 in Nortel when it dropped down to 50 cents a share. Selling when the stock reached $10 a share, I earned $19000 on my investment. With such financial stability, I decided to invest in the motorcycle of my dreams and pay for the ludicrous insurance. Exactly two months later, I died in a flash of stupidity on that very same bike...

you sound like toohey, thai. that scares me.
although - would you wish to use your alternate universe powers for good or for evil? or just to be?

What's a toohey? At first you meant Thuy, but you dont know her, so you cant mean her...
Also, What's wrong with you? I already described what I would do with my powers...

for toohey, read the fountainhead. or the information at this link: http://www.cliffsnotes.com/WileyCDA/LitNote/id-111,pageNum-51.html
and i know what you want to do with your powers ... but are you going to use them for good or evil? that's still the question. you just said you'd provide ppl with direction - but would you manipulate them into doing what you wanted them to do ... or would you try to lead them to the truth, or help them find their own way? you left out that part.

I guess I'd use them for good. I'm not an evil person!

yeah ... but once the lights start flashing, you gotta get back to your seat.
and dan, what's wrong with you? how did you enjoy that "what's wrong with you" statement? it made me feel all small and vulnerable.

Sorry, exams and all. Plus I actually have to write part 8 since it wasn't included in my original paper.

Just read the Toohey thing. I don't think I'm like him AT ALL!!!
Well, except for this part: "His role, rather, is to be the intellectual advisor behind the throne...Toohey is a behind-the-scenes puppet master, who surreptitiously wields the real power"
Posted by Rayne @ 05/02/2005 01:52 AM EST
well, if you were going to wield your power for evil, then you'd be like toohey. but if it were for good, then you would not be like toohey.
that's why i wanted to clarify if you would use your skills for good or evil.
