10/18/2006 Archived Entry: "I’m sorry, Canadian Tire Girl"
You were so young, so cute, so naive, so tired, and ever so confused. I just couldn’t help myself. When you presented me with this opportunity, I simply didn’t have the will power to say no. I know I should have; I was fully aware of what was going on and yet didn’t stop it. It’s not like I have some excuse like being tired or drugged up. Comic books have taught me better than this!
You had a long day, the only person working the cash AND the customer service counter with long line ups at both. When you handed me 10.01$ instead of 0.01$, I knew I should have set you straight, but instead I just kept my mouth shut. Even when you said you thought something was wrong but couldn’t put your finger on it, I pretended not to know. Oh how I’m paying for it now. The guilt has been eating away at the very core of my soul for hours! You can rest assured, Canadian Tire Girl, that I couldn’t rest assured at all last night.

You know then when she goes to leave at the end of the night her supervisor is going to get mad at her for being out money and she's going to get written up and probably go home and cry herself to sleep and then her shortage is going to affect the balancing for the whole week...

Jenna, you make it sound like we should look out for people's incompetences. Not to sound harsh, but if CT girl makes a mistake, she should be written up to be more vigilant next time. If I were to miss a drowning victim back when I was a lifeguard, I assure you, I would receive much more than a write-up. Mistakes in many other professions cost lives. Hopefully she'll learn from her mistake and Thai can use this $10 to buy himself something special in China...:P!

yes, mistakes in other professions do cost lives - but they still happen and that's why these professions often have insurance.
poor ct girl probably has to cover that and now she's out almost 2 hours work! maybe it will teach her something - but we all have bad days. and it's on those days that when someone gives you a helping hand and doesn't let you just flounder that you really appreciate it.
