There hasn’t been a better week to be a gamer. There’s been enough drama to write TV series, novels, movies, and yes, blog entries on. The avalanche of news and events has really set gamers on fire. Of all the fandoms out there, gaming is by far the most entertaining one to be a part of.

What many discussions lack in objectivity and intelligence is more than made up for by raw passion. The rampant fanboyism which leads to blind and pointless loyalty to one console manufacturer can be phenomenally aggravating, but if you can learn to not take it seriously, it’s almost as entertaining as gaming itself. The endless debates about which console is better, the false sense of entitlement, and the refusal to see that buying just 1 more console would solve all their problems is incredibly fascinating.

Beyond all the bickering, what other industry has people THIS excited about a product announcement, writing songs to serenade their favourite producer, dozens of dedicated webcomics, or cheers this loud at demonstration of excellence.

Being a gamer has its perks, the best one of all is being a part of a fanbase that has no qualms demonstrating its energy and exuberance on its pastime.
