What is it with seeds? I mean, seedless grapes were perfect the way they were and here comes man deciding to genetically engineer seeded grapes. WTF?! Seedless grapes have survived without human intervention for millions of years and then all of a sudden we decide that we know better? And then there's the whole eating thing...eating seedless grapes is about 10^10^10 times better than seeded ones. You have to be all careful with your chewing when eating a seeded grape while you can just chomp down without a care in the world on the seedless variety - The Way Nature Intended.

Someone obviously hadn't thought this through carefully.

The greatest perk about my job is that I get a laptop (it's technically not really a perk since I do need it for the job I'm doing). The convenience of it is awesome. Crawling into bed, wrapping myself up in a blanket, and watching 4 hours of Gundam Seed on my laptop in the middle of the night is one of the best experiences ever! It felt a lot like curling up in a blanket and a book, except better.

Then there was the time I brough my laptop to the laundry room and guarded over my washing clothes while watching a movie, how fun! I generally just feel very L33T carrying the thing around.

I'm going to miss this thing more than Erin when I give it back. The battery life kinda sucks though, only 2.5 hours with a full charge.

I think T4G, my employer, missed a great opportunity by not making their tagline "We're I.T." instead of "The Intelligent Application of Technology". Though maybe businesses take themselves too seriously for that kind of joke.

Super Size Me has, amongst other things, a man so large he decided he needed surgery to overcome his weight problem. The portly fellow in question put himself there by drinking over 50 gallons of pop a week. 50 GALLONS! Thats like a bathtub full. Then there are the two hugely overweight teenage girls who sued McDonald's for their condition. Their case was thrown out because there was no clear evidence that McDonald's food could be THAT harmful.

Which led to the filmmaker going on his little "experiment". But seriously, anyone with more brain cells than a catfish knows that eating that much salt, sugar, and fat is not good for you. Those fat fuckers had no one to blame but themselves for the state they were in. Instead of suing other people they should be looking in the mirror. In fact, had they been looking in the mirror at all, they may have realised that they were doing something wrong. The lawsuit is completely of the mentality that "Someone else is the cause of my problem. Probably someone with money." What a ridiculous notion.

McDonald's dropping their Super Size option is like movie studios censoring themselves. It's a choice they have to make because the public is too stupid to take responsibility. Because of some super sized morons who constantly over indulge on super size fries, the rest of us can't choose to do so once in a blue moon anymore. Jumping off a bridge has been proven to be fatal but you don't see us not building bridges anymore because some fools decided to throw themselves over.

I understand that some people are bigger than others and there are some who can eat all the McDonald's they want and still look like God's gift to me, but people who have no self-control, who drink more pop in a week than I have my entire life deserve every heart, liver, and blood disease they get and should probably go up a size or four.

Incidentally, my boss abandoned pop completely about 2 months ago and has lost 6 inches off of his waist line. All the money he saved is going towards new pants.

Cinescape has begun to use Flash based "pop ups" instead of pop up windows. I suppose this was only a matter of time since all good browsers have implemented some kind of pop-op blocker and IE is getting it's very own in the near future. Its a good alternative and all, but god is it ever annoying. The Flash animation goes over the main page blocking everything, and you need to click on "close" twice to make it go away. Not to mention the music...

The only way I can think of to get around this is to disable Flash, which I'm not going to do (as much as I *LOVE* Flash, and all). So until they get rid of this ridiculousness, I won't be giving them anymore hits.

I hate uncertainty. I'm sure no one else really likes uncertainty either. I always have my next 3-4 days vaguely planned out at all times. I like being able to say "yeah, I'm having dinner with Chris on saturday, going to the casino with Mike Sunday night and having lunch with Jen on Monday". But when there's a big uncertainty hanging over my head (such as, say, not knowing where I'll be living) that puts all plans on indefinite hold and prevents me from making anything concrete, it just makes me want to jump up and down a lot out of frustration.

I wish I had known ahead of time that I'd have a whole month between the end of school and the beginning of work. It would have helped in making plans for something truly interesting to do with myself.

While I don't really consider the month wasted - finishing The Frozen Throne, reading all seven incomprehensible volumes of The Invisibles, learning C#, and reconnecting with those crazy locals IS worthwhile - it just doesn't seem as fulfilling as going to Vegas, Seattle, Cancun, England, East Coast, Camping, etc. as some of the people I know have been doing. Where's MY adventure? What do I have to show for 3 out of 4 weeks of vacation so far? Where are the stories I could be telling? The anecdotes? The memories!?

This is my desktop (actual size). I run my pc at a resolution of 1600x1200 and much too often find that to be insufficient to do some of the things I want to do. When coding, for example, I like to have the text editor open, a browswer open to reference pages, and the console. Even at my resolution, it's impossible to have all these 3 things opened wide enough to view their entire content(s?). Most things need 600 width resolution, so you can only expect to accomodate 2 windows side-by-side. While I realise I should be closing the windows that I'm not using at any given moment, I just think it's really nice to be able to look at something without having to click around.

I think 1600x2400 would be spectacular! Widescreen is definately the way to go, I can't believe they're only a recent development. Sorta like Bottom Freezer Refrigerators, it makes so much sense it's odd that it hadn't been invented before. Who stacks their windows vertically anyways? Alas, most decently priced LCD screens don't even do 1600x1200. The solution is to get another 19 incher that can do 16x12 and do dual monitor. But it just wouldn't be the same. I await impatiently the day a LCD screen can do 1600x2400 and will cost less than 1k. Until then, I sorta just wonder how the hell I lived with the cluttered desktop that was un-tabbed browsing.
