Day 10 - Maoping

From Wuhan, we took a long bus ride to our cruise boat (The Princess Sheena!). We passed under several mountains, went on a few very tall bridges, got our first look at the 3 Gorges Dam, and generally admired the spectacular scenery.

We made a brief stop at a museum where we got to see one of the world's most well preserved mummies. It's over 2000 years old, but when they unearthed it, all its organs were still intact and its skin still elastic. The museum was home to the "Electrified Education Centre" which sounds like some kind of shock therapy. Learn! or else.

A band composed of the women of the staff and crew of the boat greeted us with, of all things, some x-mas music. Our cabin was very small, probably smaller than any dorm room but all we really needed was a place to sleep and watch TV. Since we would be on das boot for 4 nights, I decided to do some laundry, figuring it would have plenty of time to dry. This turned out to be a terrible idea since there was no room to space things out and no ventilation. We ended up with a cabin that smelled like wet clothes for 5 whole days. Our laundry adventures include me sneaking into crew quarters to try to see if I could somehow use their washing machine and Etienne trying to bribe the ship's art dealer into doing our laundry for us.
